Terms of service
The agreement between you and Shema for using this waitlist site, in plain language.
Effective date: July 13, 2026.These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of Shema.care and the early-access waitlist (together, the “Site”), operated by Shema, a company based in California, United States. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.
1. What Shema is, right now
Shema is building an anonymous peer-support product. It has not launched yet. Today, the Site only lets you join a waitlist for early access. We don’t currently offer any paid product, membership, matching, journaling, or professional-referral service through the Site, and nothing on the Site is a promise that any specific feature, price, timeline, or investment opportunity will be offered in the future. If and when we do launch a product, we’ll publish updated terms for it before you can use it.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to join the waitlist or otherwise use the Site. By using the Site, you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate.
3. Joining the waitlist & communications consent
When you join the waitlist, you agree that we may email you about Shema, including when early access opens. If you provide a phone number and opt in, you agree we may also text you; message and data rates may apply, and you can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text or using the unsubscribe link in any email. Providing a phone number and SMS consent is never required to join the waitlist.
4. Peer support, not therapy or a crisis service
Shema is intended to be a peer-support community, not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care, and it is not, and will not be, a crisis or emergency service. Nothing on the Site constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) in the U.S., or your local emergency number.
5. No guaranteed pricing, perks, or launch date
We want to be straightforward: joining the waitlist does not guarantee you a spot, a specific price, a discount, an investment opportunity, or any other perk, and we don’t make those promises on this Site. If we ever offer waitlist members something specific, such as early access or founding-member pricing, we’ll describe the actual terms at the time we offer it, and those terms will control.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to help anyone else:
- Submit false, misleading, or someone else’s personal information to the waitlist form.
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access or submit the waitlist form.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site or attempt to access it in unauthorized ways.
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
7. Intellectual property
The Site, including its text, design, graphics, and the Shema name and logo, is owned by Shema or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Site for your personal, non-commercial use, but you may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from it without our written permission.
8. Disclaimers
The Site is provided “as is”and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shema will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under California law, including liability for our own fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct, or any consumer protections that can’t be waived under the California Consumers Legal Remedies Act or similar laws.
10. Your consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit any right you have as a consumer under California or other applicable law, including your right to file a complaint with the California Attorney General, your local district attorney’s consumer protection unit, or the Federal Trade Commission.
11. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. We don’t require you to give up your right to go to court. Any dispute that can’t be resolved informally may be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you may also bring a qualifying dispute in small claims court instead.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Site and ask to be removed from the waitlist at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us. We may suspend or end access to the Site, or the waitlist itself, at any time, for any reason, including if we believe these Terms have been violated.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Shema develops. We’ll update the effective date above, and for material changes we’ll notify waitlist members by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Miscellaneous
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision isn’t a waiver of it. These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Shema regarding the Site.
